Anbar

Anbar is an Iraqi governorate located in western Iraq. It is the largest governorate in Iraq in terms of area, as it constitutes the equivalent of one-third (1/3) of the area of ​​Iraq. It includes within its borders the western plateau, which reaches a height of more than 900 meters above sea level in the shortest part of western Anbar. Naming

The word Anbar is an Arabic word meaning storehouse, Anbar is the plural of Nabar (storehouse). The Lakhmids named it Anbar because it was a storehouse for military equipment or because it was a storehouse for wheat, barley and straw. It is considered one of the most important cities during the Sassanid occupation of Iraq, because it had an important military center to protect the capital, Al-Mada'in, from Roman attacks.
