According to the preliminary results of the national population census conducted on November 20, 2024, Iraq's population has reached 45.4 million. This census is the first of its kind in over three decades, with the last comprehensive census conducted in 1987. The data reveals that males constitute 50.1% of the population, while females make up 49.8%. Additionally, 70.3% of the population resides in urban areas, compared to 29.7% in rural areas.
This data is considered crucial for future planning and resource allocation in Iraq, particularly after years of conflicts and political challenges that have impacted the accuracy of population statistics. It is expected that this information will be utilized to improve public services and develop the country's infrastructure.
