Muthanna

Al-Muthanna is an Iraqi governorate and the second largest governorate in the Republic of Iraq in terms of area, with the exception of less than 800 thousand people, according to estimates by the Ministry of Planning, and currently it is close to one million people, and may not depend on the former Diwaniyah Brigade. Planning is bordered to the south by Saudi Arabia, to the southeast by the borders of Sharq with Kuwait, and to the north by the governorates of Diwaniyah and Najaf, and to the east by Dhi Qar and Basra.

Al-Muthanna Governorate is one of the southern governorates in terms of geographical location and one of the governorates of the Middle Euphrates administratively, and extends over an area of ​​51,000 km2, making it the second largest governorate in Iraq in terms of area.

It is bordered to the north by the governorates of Qadisiyah and Dhi Qar, to the south by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait, to the east by the governorates of Basra, and to the west by the governorate of Najaf.

The population of Al-Muthanna Governorate, according to the latest statistics, is about (650,000) six hundred and fifty thousand people, and it is now almost one million people. It is distinguished by the presence of Lake Sawa, which is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, and it is also distinguished by the ancient city of Uruk, which is one of the oldest human cities, as its history extends back to ancient times about seven thousand years because it was established in the fifth millennium BC.
